'Marauders' Premieres Thursday At Esquire

Lionsgate

Area actors, extras and crew with a part in "Marauders" will attend the Cincinnati premiere Thursday at Clifton's Esquire Theatre.

Bruce Willis, Christopher Meloni, Dave Bautista, Adrian Grenier, Jonathon Schaech  and  Kentucky native Alyshia Ochse star in the bank heist thriller.

Originally set in Chicago, director Steven C. Miller rewrote the script after scouting Cincinnati last year. He shot the film here in September and October. Willis shot his scenes in about one day, I'm told.

Actor Christopher Meloni holds microphones for director Steven C. Miller at "Marauders" press conference in October.

“We’re using Cincinnati for Cincinnati, because it looks awesome,” Miller said at a Carew Tower press conference in October, during a break in shooting.

“Once I got to Cincinnati, and saw how much I loved the city, and how much I loved the buildings and the architecture, it was clear to me that the movie had to take place all in downtown,” Miller said.

The premiere, arranged by the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky Film Commission, is not open to the public. The film opens nationwide Friday.

Aerial scenes were shot by a drone owned by veteran videographer Bob Gerding and his son, Chris Gerding. Here's a link to my June 22 story, Gerding's Drones Star In 'Marauders' Movie.

Lionsgate describes the plot this way: "When a bank is hit by a brutal heist, all evidence points to the owner (Willis) and his high-powered clients. But as a group of FBI agents (Meloni, Bautista, Grenier) dig deeper into the case — and the deadly heists continue — it becomes clear that a larger conspiracy is at play."

Other movie news:

--"Goat," filmed here last summer, will open Sept. 23, according to the Internet Movie Data Base.  Nick Jonas, James Franco and  Ben Schnetzer star in the movie about what happens "in the name of brotherhood" at a campus fraternity house.

--Lifetime's "Girl From The Hood" TV movie about R&B singer Michel'le starts filming here after July 4, says a Lifetime publicist.
