'Girl From The Hood' Filming Delayed 2 Weeks

Internet Movie Database

No lights, camera, action yet. Production of Lifetime's "Girl From The Hood" movie, which was to start this week, will begin filming after the July 4th weekend, says a Lifetime publicist.

The movie about R&B singer Michel'le will be filmed here most of July.  It will air on Lifetime this fall, the publicist tells me.

Rhyon Nicole Brown ("Eight Crazy Dates," "Lincoln Heights") and R. Marcos Taylor ("Straight Outta Compton") star in the bio picture set in Los Angeles and suburban Compton. The film dramatizes Michel'le's relationships with Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Suge Knight, N.W.A., Ruthless Records and Death Row Records.

Michel'le, 45, currently stars on TV One's reality series "R&B Divas: Los Angeles."

Kristen Schlotman, Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky Film Commission executive director, announced May 31 that filming would start in late June. Production offices opened in Cincinnati shortly before Memorial Day weekend, she said.
