SB471

Provided

Get ready for another weekend of traffic delays on southbound 471 in northern Kentucky.

Starting Saturday at 7 a.m. and continuing through Sunday at 9 p.m., the route will be restricted to a single lane from the Daniel Carter Beard, or Big Mac, Bridge to Route 27 in Highland Heights.

Construction crews will be installing reflective pavement markers during that time.

Long delays are likely and Kentucky transportation officials are urging drivers to find alternate routes.

Get ready for another weekend of traffic delays on Southbound 471 in northern Kentucky.
Starting Friday evening, work crews will once again be working on the final pavement surface as a major reconstruction project begins to come to an end.

Starting at 10 p.m. Friday south 471 from near Grand Avenue to the U.S. 27 intersection in Highland Heights will be reduced to a single lane until Monday at 6 a.m.

Kentucky transportation officials say last weekend's rain delayed some of the resurfacing on Southbound 471.  But crews have been working around the clock to keep things on schedule to be completed by the first week of November.

Once again this weekend you likely will want to find an alternate route and avoid South 471.

If you work in downtown Cincinnati and drive home in the evening on southbound 471 get ready for delays next week or select another route for your commute.

Construction crews are ready to start work on resurfacing the Daniel Carter Beard, or Big Mac, bridge.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Nancy Wood said that will mean ramp closures and restrictions on the Ohio side of bridge starting Friday at 7 p.m.  Those this will continue through early August.

It could be a slow go for drivers on Southbound 471 in Northern Kentucky this weekend as crews get ready for Phase II of this summer's reconstruction project.  Officials are suggesting you find an alternate route.

Starting at seven Friday evening and continuing through Monday morning, traffic will be reduced to one lane between Kentucky 8 and US 27 in Highland Heights.

Workers will be installing a temporary concrete barrier wall and pavement markings.

Orange barrels and lane shifts are now in place on southbound 471 as a major reconstruction project gets started.  That's likely to slow the evening commute for drivers leaving downtown Cincinnati for northern Kentucky and the east side.

But those delays will likely grow even longer in July when work starts on repairing the deck of the Daniel Carter Beard, or Big Mac, Bridge.

Right now orange construction barrels are sitting alongside southbound 471 in Northern Kentucky.  Starting Friday evening crews will be moving them into place as reconstruction starts on the interstate.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District Engineer Rob Hans said it’s a continuation of a project that started last year.

If your evening commute involves Southbound 471 get ready for orange barrels.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Nancy Wood says construction work is set to begin on April 12th.

It's a continuation of a project started last year, when the northbound side of the interstate was rebuilt.

Contractors will be working to remove deteriorated concrete from three lanes, shoulders and all exit and entrance ramps.  It also involves repairing and replacing the surfaces on bridge decks including the Daniel Carter Beard, or Big Mac bridge.
