NKU picks interim AD

Northern Kentucky University has named an interim athletic director as it continues its search for a replacement for Scott Eaton, who was fired last month.  Former Wright State University athletic director Michael Cusack will serve as the interim AD, starting April 15. 

Cusack retired in 2008, but since then has been teaching in the WSU Student Affairs in Higher Education Program and building the university's Sports Management Graduate Certificate Program. 

NKU let Eaton go, saying he had failed to comply with the university's ethical principles and code of conduct.

NKU fires AD, will conduct national search for replacement

Northern Kentucky University has fired athletic director Scott Eaton.  University President Geoffrey Mearns said in a letter to the Board of Regents Monday that Eaton was terminated for failure to comply with NKU's ethical principles and code of conduct.  Mearns said the information he received required a swift and decisive response.

NKU will become tobacco-free campus

***Update***

The Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents voted unanimously Wednesday to direct the adoption of a tobacco-free campus policy. The board’s action authorizes NKU President Geoffrey Mearns to develop the details of the policy and to appoint a Tobacco-Free Campus Task Force to develop recommendations for the transition and the policy’s implementation. The transition process will include students, faculty, staff and could take up to 18 months

Candidate forum tonight at NKU

Northern Kentucky University will host the second in a series of forums featuring candidates for state and congressional offices in northern Kentucky.

The forum will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union Ballroom.

Tonight's schedule includes:

5:30 p.m. - Brian Linder, Republican candidate for the 61st Kentucky House District.

6 p.m. - Adam Haas, Republican candidate for the 67 Kentucky House District.

6:30 p.m. - William (Bill) Adkins, Democratic candidate for the 4th District U.S. House seat.
