Twelve mobile food vendors lined the street along Washington Park Friday as Cincinnati dedicated its newest mobile food vending zone.
Council Member Laure Quinlivan created the program in 2010. Last year, it was expanded to Fountain Square and the Purple People Bridge. This year, it's being expanded to Washington Park and Over-the-Rhine.
The OTR vending spot is on 12th Street, near Clay, and is open to food trucks from 6 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. The Washington park zone is open from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Cincinnati's food truck program is expanding. City Council is expected to vote Wednesday to add more vendor parking spaces.
Councilwoman Laure Quinlivan says spots are being added near the nightlife areas in Over-the-Rhine (12th and Clay streets) and day-time vending spots are being created near Washington Park.
"The reason we're not doing it in the evening," says Quinlivan, "is because 3CDC... they are going to be programing the park every night. They will be working with food trucks but they wanted to have some control of their events with loading and bands, etc."
