"Nuns on the Bus" rolls into Cincinnati today

"Nuns on the Bus, sponsored by a group of Catholic social justice activists who have been critical of the budget-cutting plans of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, will kick off a six-day tour of Ohio with a stop in Cincinnati today.

The bus will be at the Working in Neighborhoods Economic Learning Center at 1814 Dreman Ave. in South Cumminsville at noon.

Mail-in absentee ballots up by 30 percent over 2008 here

As of Saturday, Hamilton County's mail-in absentee ballots are running 30 percent above what they were in the last presidential election in 2008, according to figures from the board of elections.

It is an indication of the high interest in this year's presidential contest - and the fact that, this year, six million Ohio voters were mailed absentee ballot applications by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

Romney, Obama campaigns hit the streets here Saturday

The campaigns of both President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney were hitting the streets of Cincinnati for some old-fashioned door-knocking and phone-banking.

Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Westwood, joined with Hamilton County GOP officials and local tea party leaders Saturday morning at the Romney Victory Center in Colerain Township to kick off a day of grassroots voter outreach.

C-SPAN's campaign bus heading to Xavier campus Thursday

C-SPAN's Campaign 2012 bus - a sort of politics classroom on wheels - will visit the Xavier University campus Thursday afternoon.


The 45-foot long bus is a mobile production studio that offers presentations on the electoral process and C-SPAN's coverage of the election.


It has been on the road since August 2011, visiting major political events and 43 state capitals. Since 1993, it has visited middle and high schools and colleges and universities.

First Lady holds Cincinnati rally to kick off early voting in Ohio

First Lady Michelle Obama will rally the troops at the Duke Energy Convention Center on Tuesday, the first day of early voting in Ohio.

According to a campaign press release, the First Lady will "speak about what's at stake in this election for Ohioans, encourage them to organize their communities between now and November, and promote voter registration and voting through GottaVote.com."

The event is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required.
