The Big Story with Maryanne Zeleznik
Mark Perzel talks with author David Herlihy about his book The Lost Cyclist: The Epic Tale of an American Adventurer and His Mysterious Disappearance. It’s the fascinating tale of Frank Lenz, a young man who left home in Pittsburgh in 1892 to cycle around the world on a new-fangled "pneumatic safety" bike, a prototype of the modern bicycle, only to disappear mysteriously in Turkey two years into his epic journey.
Author Kambri Crews joins Mark Perzel to talk about her provocative bestselling memoir, Burn Down the Ground, about her life as a hearing child of deaf parents and her father’s subsequent arrest and prison sentence.
Former Cincinnatian Penny Jarrett joins Thane Maynard on this week’s Field Notes to talk about her current work for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and their efforts to protect the shorebirds that live and breed in the Little Estero Island Critical Wildlife Area near Fort Myers.
