Jazz with OT

Sundays at 10 PM
  • Hosted by Oscar Treadwell

In the Summer of 2005 Cincinnati Public Radio was delighted to announce the return of Oscar Treadwell to Cincinnati’s airwaves. The beloved former WGUC and WVXU jazz host reprised Jazz with OT on 91.7 WVXU every Sunday evening. As a tribute to OT, these programs continue, taking jazz fans on a wonderful musical journey. In these programs OT spins the tunes of the jazz masters, tells their stories, and provides counterpoint with his beautiful poetry narrations.

The Faux Frenchmen resume their Wednesday night residency at LaPoste in Clifton tonight after a Holiday break at a NEW TIME: 7:30 to 10pm.

The trio is still at The Dee Felice Café in Covington, KY every Thursday 7-11.  I am also at the Cincinnati Country Club by myself every Saturday. If you can get a member to take you there, you can come hear me play there. (from Lee Stolar's email dated 12/31/13)

Please note that Chez Nora in Covington where he played on Sunday evenings has permanently closed as of January 5, 2014 according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

While in town for the Constella Festival, jazz legend Jimmy Heath conducted a master class at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. Here is a video of that class for those who were unable to make it:

On Sunday, September 1 at 10:00 pm, we remember Marian McPartland with a memorial program.

The influential jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd died on Monday, 2/4/13, at the age of 80, his nephew has said.  Alex Bugnon, a jazz pianist, reported his uncle's death on Thursday, though it has yet to be confirmed.  Bugnon wrote on his own Facebook page: "Donald passed away Monday in Delaware, where he lived. His funeral will be held in Detroit sometime next week. I have no more patience for this unnecessary shroud of secrecy placed over his death by certain members of his immediate family. "
