Jazz with OT

Sundays at 10 PM
  • Hosted by Oscar Treadwell

In the Summer of 2005 Cincinnati Public Radio was delighted to announce the return of Oscar Treadwell to Cincinnati’s airwaves. The beloved former WGUC and WVXU jazz host reprised Jazz with OT on 91.7 WVXU every Sunday evening. As a tribute to OT, these programs continue, taking jazz fans on a wonderful musical journey. In these programs OT spins the tunes of the jazz masters, tells their stories, and provides counterpoint with his beautiful poetry narrations.

The Blue Wisp Big Band plays every Wednesday in Japp's Annex ( in Over the Rhine) from 8:30 - 11:30.  There is a $5 cover and the doors open at 7:30.

The Faux Frenchmen have a couple of upcoming jazz concerts:

  1. Thurs, 8/21 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Loveland Summer Concert Series.
  2. Friday, Aug 22 from 6-9pm at Vine and Dine @Art Of Entertaining, O'Bryonville.
  3. You can also catch them every Wednesday evening at LaPoste, Telford Avenue in Clifton, from 7:30-10pm.

Chris Comer, jazz pianist and leader of The Chris Comer Trio, has reformed and revamped the lineup for the new JAZZ EXPLOSION. The Chris Comer Jazz Explosion performs at MOTR Pub on Sunday August 17 at 7:00pm. No opening act. Named in tribute of great traditional ensembles like The Jazz Messengers, The Jazz Crusaders and The Jazz Passengers, the all-new JAZZ EXPLOSION adds a funk, rock, avant-experimental art-damage element to improvisational music and promises to sound nothing like traditional jazz.

There’s a change for this Thursday’s, 7/10, concert in the Music@BCM series. Mike Wade & Dannita Wade and the Jazz Ambassadors will be at BCM instead of the Leroy Ellington Band. Mike's unique brand of jazz will be injected with a healthy dose of R&B and funk.

Doors open at 6 pm for food and drinks, and the concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is only $5 for adults and $3 for children.  Concertgoers can also purchase great food from Colonial Cottage, and support local youth and community organizations in the process. BCM members will receive one free drink ticket.
