World Premiere: Abigail/1702

Playhouse is the Park will soon open the world premiere of a provocative new drama, Abigail/1702, which speculates on the life of Abigail Williams (from The Crucible) if she escaped Salem through the forest and started a new life elsewhere. The play is set 10 years after the infamous witch trials, while Abigail still tries to atone for the sins we know of, and others we don’t. Rick Pender is joined in studio by Stephanie Fieger, the actor who is portraying Abigail, who talks about the play and her debut at the Playhouse.

"The Last Runaway"

Tracy Chevalier, author of the bestseller Girl with a Pearl Earring, has just published her latest novel, this one set in Ohio during the days of the Underground Railroad called The Last Runaway. Freud's Last Session

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati’s newest premiere, Freud’s Last Session, is a challenging imagination of what a conversation between the father of psychotherapy, Dr. Sigmund Freud, and visionary writer C.S. Lewis might be like. On this night in 1939, they meet and discuss life and death, God, love, sex, myth and more. The actors portraying Freud and Lewis, Barry Mulholland and Bruce Cromer, join Robyn Carey-Allgeyer to talk about this production and the challenges of portraying these two great 20th century thinkers.

"The Wisdom of Compassion"

The Wisdom of Compassion is a new book that provides an intimate glimpse into the daily life of the Dalai Lama. Victor Chan is the author and a confidant of the Dalai Lama, who writes about the lessons he’s learned during his travels and conversations with this spiritual icon. Guest contributor Ron Esposito speaks by phone with Victor Chan about this book and his founding of the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education in Vancouver, British Columbia.
