8 p.m.: SON OF ZORN, Fox. Premiere. In this hybrid animated/live action sitcom, Jason Sudeikis ("Last Man On Earth") provides the voice of a Zorn, a cartoon warrior from a remote Pacific Island, who returns to Southern California to see his teen-age son and woo back his ex-wife (Cheryl Hines, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”), now engaged to psychology professor (Tim Meadows, "Saturday Night Live). Zorn gets an apartment in Orange County as he navigates fatherhood, divorce and a sales job. (Moves to 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Sept. 25.)

3 p.m.: ROBERT IRVINE SHOW, CW/Channel 12.2, Premiere. Irvine, best known for Food Network's "Restaurant: Impossible" makeover show, hosts a conflict resolution talk show in the time period vacated by Bill Cunningham.

She wants him to do housework and yard work, while his "retirement plan" includes go karts, paintball, drinking beer with his buddies and going to Mets games.

The psychologist hates lawyers; says the jury considers the accused as the enemy; and uses a touch screen to psychoanalyze jury members. "Dr. Phil" and his son, plus Steven Spielberg and Paul Attanasio ("House") are among the producers.

Given the prime position at 9 p.m. Thursdays, during Kerry Washington's ("Scandal") maternity leave, is this drama about a close relationship between a popular defense attorney (Daniel Sunjata, "Grey's Anatomy," "Rescue Me") and a influential cable TV news producer (Piper Perabo, "Covert Affairs"), as they attempt "to control the media, the justice system and ultimately each other," ABC says. The premise is based on the real-life friendship between criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and CNN's "Larry King Live" producer Wendy Walker.
9 p.m.: PITCH, Fox. Premiere. Kylie Bunbury (“Under The Dome”) stars as Ginny Baker, the first woman to pitch in a Major League Baseball game. Not everyone in the San Diego clubhouse thinks she belongs, but Ginny has the support of her catcher (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, “Franklin & Bash,” “NYPD Blue”) and manager (Dan Lauria, "The Wonder Years") in this drama from Dan Fogelman (NBC's "This Is Us," "Crazy, Stupid Love," "The Neighbors").

Along with lots of tin foil, he's helped by a former CIA agent (George Eads ("CSI"), an impulsive computer hacker (Tristin Mays, "Vampire Diaries," "Supergirl") and his boss (Sandrine Holt, "House of Cards").

From producers Shawn Ryan ("The Shield," "The Unit," "Lie to Me") and Eric Kripke (“Revolution”).
10 p.m.: CONVICTION, ABC. Premiere. Now stay with me on this one: Hayley Atwell from canceled "Agent Carter" plays the daughter of a U.S. president who goes to work for her nemesis, a New York district attorney (Eddie Cahill, "Under the Dome," "CSI: NY") rather than go to jail for drug possession. ABC says that while still "battling her own demons," she's put in charge of the Conviction Integrity Unit, and "uses her brilliant mind to investigate cases where there is credible suspicion of wrongful conviction." My guess is that ABC viewers who miss "Castle" won't stick around long with this one.

9 p.m.: Frequency, CW. Premeire. FREQUENCY (CW): In this remake of a 2000 Dennis Quaid-Jim Caviezel movie, Peyton List ("Mad Men," "The Tomorrow People," "The Flash") plays a small town police detective who talks to her father (Riley Smith, "Nashville"), a cop who had died in 1996, on his old ham radio. She doesn't share her secret with her boss and dad's former partner (Mekhi Phifer, "ER," "House of Lies") or her boyfriend ( Daniel Bonjour, "The Walking Dead").
9 p.m.: CATCHING KELCE, E! Entertainment. Premiere. UC alum and Kansas City Chief receiver Travis Kelce, 26, searches for true love – at least the reality TV version – among 50 contestants, one from each state, with the help of his older brother Jason, a former Bearcats center playing for the Philadelphia Eagles.
