WOW Air, Iceland's Low-Cost Transatlantic Airline Coming To CVG

WOW Air will fly from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to Europe via Keflavik International Airport in Iceland.

A release says service will be available four days a week with flights to Keflavik available from $99 one way.

Its inaugural flight will be from CVG to Iceland on May 10, 2018. Tickets go on sale Wednesday at www.wowair.us.

WOW Air will also fly from Cincinnati to other cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dublin and Copenhagen. Those tickets start at $149, the release says.

"WOW Air is very excited to bring our flight services to Cincinnati," says Skúli Mogensen, CEO and founder of WOW Air. "We are proud to partner with Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to provide the lowest fares possible over the Atlantic to Greater Cincinnati area travelers. Our goal is to help make international travel truly a possibility for everyone."

"Connecting the Tri-State community with additional nonstop international destinations has been a priority for CVG," says Candace McGraw, chief executive officer at CVG. "WOW Air is one of the fastest growing, low-cost transatlantic carriers. With this new service, local travelers will not only have the benefit of nonstop travel to Iceland, but one-stop, low-cost service to more than 20 destinations across Europe, Israel and the Canary Islands. We’re thrilled to be one of WOW’s newest U.S. markets, and look forward to growing their service from CVG."

With new flights from Cincinnati, Wow Air will now serve 12 destinations in the U.S. It launched service in North America in March 2015 with flights from Boston Logan International Airport.

CVG has added other airlines and flights this year. Southwest Airlines started flying from CVG in June and Frontier added flights from Cincinnati.
