WKRC-TV Looking For New Sports Anchor

WKRC-TV
Brad Steinke

Main sports anchor Brad Steinke is leaving WKRC-TV after two years, so Channel  12 is looking for a "great sports anchor/reporter" with "solid experience" creating online and social media content.

Steinke started on Opening Day 2015, filling the vacancy created when Channel 12 managers moved sports director Brad Johansen back to news anchor in fall of 2014.

The job posting  says Channel 12 wants a person with a minimum of three years' professional experience as a sports anchor and/or reporter, "solid experience" in online and social media content creation and a "superior knowledge of sports on all levels from professional to high school."

"What we are looking for is someone who can truly make our sports coverage a point of difference in our newscasts by delivering more than just the usual scores and highlights. Great storytelling and the ability to report on both the serious and lighter sides of all things sports related is one of the crucial aspects of this position. This is your chance to help redefine what a local sportscast looks like," the job posting says.

Steinke, a 1983 Southern Utah University graduate, spent 19 years in Arizona as a Phoenix and Tucson anchor, and as Fox Sports Arizona's post-game host and in-game reporter for Arizona Diamondbacks telecasts. The Salt Lake City native also worked three years as an anchor for WAMI-TV in Miami, Fla., where he hosted the nightly 30-minute "Sportstown" show. He also did pre-game and post-game shows for Miami Heat and Florida Marlins telecasts.

John Kiesewetter, who has covered television and media for more than 35 years, has been working for Cincinnati Public Radio and WVXU-FM since 2015.
