Vigil To Remember Sam DuBose

WCPO and DuBose family
Sam DuBose was shot and killed July 19, 2015 during a traffic stop.

It was one year ago today that a University of Cincinnati police officer shot and killed motorist Sam Dubose. A vigil at UC Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. will include reflections, encouragement and prayers outside the Myers Alumni Center on campus.

Scheduled speakers include members of the Sam Dubose family, UC's acting president, the student body president and a couple of pastors. Earlier this year the university paid the DuBose familymore than $5 million in a settlement. Since then, UC has made changes in its police administration and policies.

Investigators say former UC police officer Ray Tensing shot and killed DuBose as his car started to roll away from a traffic stop. Tensing is charged with murder and scheduled to go on trial on Oct. 24. His attorney maintains he feared for his life and that's why he shot DuBose.

In the event of rain, the vigil will take place inside the Myers Alumni Center.
