Still no statewide smoking ban in Kentucky, but local efforts continue to address the issue

Forty-one communities in Kentucky, including Lexington, Louisville, and Kenton County, have smoke-free policies covering workplaces and enclosed public places, but efforts to establish a statewide smoking ban have failed for years.

Here to discuss smoking bans in the state are Dr. Lynne M. Saddler, district director of health for the Northern Kentucky Health Department; Independent Business Association of Northern Kentucky board member Kevin Gordon; Cara Stewart, a health law attorney with the Kentucky Equal Justice Center, which supports public health and smoke free public policies; and, Adam Meier, a Northern Kentucky attorney and member of Fort Thomas City Council.
