Metro facing $31.3 million deficit

Many people in greater Cincinnati rely on public transit to get to work every day. But a University of Cincinnati study finds 75,000 jobs in our region are not easily accessible by Metro bus service, which is facing a $31.3 million deficit next year.

The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA), which operates Metro, will ask Hamilton County tax payers to approve a sales tax on the November 2018 ballot to help expand and improve bus service. Without the tax Metro could be out of money in less than two years.

Here to discuss Metro funding and the sales tax proposal are President of the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners, Todd PortuneLocal 12 Investigative reporter Duane Pohlman; and Better Bus Coalition President Cameron Hardy.
