Next month, Cincinnati will host the 41st Annual Appalachian Studies Association Conference: Re-stitching the Seams: Appalachia Beyond Its Borders, sponsored by the Urban Appalachian Community Coalition. Nearly 40 percent of the population in our region is of Appalachian descent.
Joining us from the Appalachian Community Coalition to discuss Greater Cincinnati's Appalachian heritage and the upcoming conference are Coalition core members Nancy Laird, Mike Maloney and Pauletta Hansel, who was named Cincinnati's first Poet Laureate in 2016; and Coalition volunteer, writer and Owner of E.Y. Ink, Elissa Yancey.
The Annual Appalachian Studies Association Conference takes place downtown Cincinnati from April 5 through 8. For more information and the conference program, click here.
Saturday, April 7, is Community Day at the conference. Greater Cincinnati residents are offered free attendance to all Saturday daytime activities. For information and to register for the free Community Day, click here.
