Email from Phil DeGreg:
This Thursday night January 16, 7:30 at the Blue Wisp, the CCM Faculty Jazztet will be performing with our artist in residence Jamey Haddad, a drummer and world music percussionist of international renown. He tours regularly as part of Paul Simon’s band (he is out with Paul Simon and Sting in February-March) but does so much more than that. He is an extraordinary presence on the bandstand. Check out this video:
Tuesday February 4, I perform the music of Miles Davis “Birth of the Cool” with the CCM Faculty Jazztet in Robert Werner Hall of CCM at 8PM. This is a rare opportunity to hear a classic orchestration played live.
Saturday February 8, our band Brasilia will release our new CD “Brazilian People” at the Blue Wisp Jazz Club. The band includes me with Kim Pensyl, Rusty Burge, Aaron Jacobs, and John Taylor. This will be our first public performance in quite a while. I will have more info about this on a future mailing but mark the date! We will also be performing on the Xavier Jazz series on March 9. More about that later too.
