Ohio Democrats plan to party in D.C. for inauguration

Ohio Democrats will hunker down in Washington for next month's presidential inauguration at one of the city's most luxurious and historic hotels - the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel on Connecticut Avenue NW.

If you want to go along for the fun, there's a rather hefty price tag.

According to an e-mail sent out by the Ohio Democratic Party, the "Mayflower Package" costs $4,200 per person.

The Mayflower Package includes four nights at the hotel, two tickets to the "Ohio Celebration Gala" at the hotel on Saturday, Jan. 19, two tickets for a "casual reception" on Sunday, a welcome kit "including commemorative gift," and "Tier 1 Priority List for official inaugural events (Does not include official tickets)."

For an additional $2,000, you can upgrade to a suite for all four nights.

For the more budget-conscious Democrats, there is $600 "events package," which includes two tickets to the Ohio Celebration Gala, two tickets to the casual reception, a commemorative gift, and "Tier 2 Priority List for official inaugural events. No guarantee of tickets to the inauguration or the official balls.

They are also offering sponsorships from individuals and corporations for $10,000 or more.

RSVPs are needed by Dec. 31; and can be made by calling (614) 207-3951 or by e-mail to billdemora@gmail.com.

Presidential inaugurations take place on Jan. 20 every year. Since that is a Sunday, there will be a private swearing-in at the White House on that day, followed by the public inauguration on the west steps of the U.S. Capitol on Monday, Jan. 21.
