My Furry Valentine is next week, so we're talking pet ownership, adoption and care

A record number of Americans, more than 82 million U.S. households, have pets. Yet each year, millions of pets are abandoned, and approximately 3 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized. Many organizations work to find suitable homes for abandoned animals, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through spay and neuter programs. Here to discuss animal rescue centers and responsible pet care and adoption are Carol Sanger, League for Animal Welfare board president and Board Member for Pets in Need; Melanie Corwin, executive director for United Coalition for Animals; and, Carolyn Evans, founder of My Furry Valentine.

My Furry Valentine is an annual event which brings more than 40 rescue groups and animal shelters together in one place where people can adopt a pet. This year My Furry Valentine will be held at the Sharonville Convention Center on February 14 and 15.
