Metro stored-value fare card works in all zones
Cincinnati Metro is introducing a new way to pay bus fares.
The new stored-value card is available in $10, $20 and $30 increments. Passengers will use the card like cash, along with any discounted fare card. Each time the stored-value card is used the fare amount is deducted and the remaining balance is printed on the card.
Metro says the 10-ride card for Zone 1 will no longer be sold, although drivers will continue to accept them through the end of 2013. "It doesn't matter which zone passengers ride with the stored-value card," Jill Dunne, Metro PR manager said. The new cards work in all zones and with all types of fares.
In development since 2011, the stored-value card became available August 1. "Several local residents tested the cards for three months before the public launch Thursday," Matt Conover, Metro service analyst said.
