Local Toymaker Don Poynter Is Part Of The Toy Exhibit At The Public Library Of Cincinnati

UC Magazine

The creative and inventive mind of Don Poynter (he invented whiskey-flavored toothpaste) turned to toys and gadgets and he is one of the many local toymakers celebrated in a current exhibit at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County’s downtown branch.

The 90-year old Don Poynter joins Jim Nolan to talk about his Poynter Products which brought the world the Jayne Mansfield hot water bottle, the first talking toilet seat, the first basketball backboard for a wastebasket and more.

Jim is a Northern Kentucky native and a father of three. In his spare time, Jim likes to read, play ice hockey and watch foreign films. He currently resides with his family on the East side of town.
