Local Neighborhoods Deemed "Food Deserts" - What It Means And What's Being Done

Wikipedia, available for use (fast food)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture defines food deserts as areas ? often impoverished ? devoid of healthy foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables.

Several local neighborhoods, including portions of Avondale, Bond Hill, Evanston, Northside and South Fairmount, are considered food deserts, according to the city. They lack sufficient grocery stores and farmers' markets able provide healthy food options to area residents.

Here to talk about local initiatives, programs and policies to address food deserts are Cincinnati Development Fund CEO Jeanne Golliher; Cincinnati City Manager Harry Black; and Director of Cincinnati's Department of Community and Economic Development, Oscar Bedolla.
