Six Cincinnati Council Members have signed a motion making about $4.5 million worth of changes to the city manager's two-year budget proposal.
The Budget and Finance Committee heard about the plan Wednesday, but Chairman Charlie Winburn delayed a vote.
“I’m not for sure the city manager or the mayor has actually seen this,” Winburn said. “This is not going to work if they’re not in the loop.”
The motion is basically the same one five council Democrats released Monday with some tweaks and additions to get Winburn's support.
Meanwhile, Council Member Kevin Flynn objected to it being considered in the first place.
“This motion is coming out to us while we’re sitting at the table,” Flynn said. “I have not been involved in any meetings to discuss this, I have not had an opportunity to discuss this, and I haven’t even read it yet.”
If the plan and the votes hold, the six members have a budget that would survive even if Mayor John Cranley vetoed it.
At this point, the Budget and Finance Committee is scheduled to meet again Monday morning for more discussions.
