Since 2001, the national high school graduation rate has increased from about 71 percent to 84 percent. In 2016 in Ohio, the graduation rate was slightly lower than the national average, at 83.5 percent. But while these numbers are showing improvement, millions of students nationwide still quit high school each year.
Joining us to discuss the reasons teens drop out of school and to look at some of the programs that are proving successful at keeping students in school are Founder and CEO of Civic Enterprises and Vice Chair of the Service Year Alliance at The Aspen Institute, John Bridgeland; and Beech Acres Parenting Center President and CEO Jim Mason.
