The Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives (AJA), located on the Cincinnati campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, was established in 1947 to collect, preserve, and make available for research, materials on the history of Jews and Jewish communities in the Western Hemisphere. Today, the AJA is the world?'s largest free-standing research center dedicated solely to the study of the American Jewish experience.
Joining us to discuss the importance of the American Jewish Archives is Executive Director Dr. Gary P. Zola.
Earlier this month the AJA dedicated the Rabbi Marc H. Tanenbaum Collection, more than 70,000 documents, pictures, audio and video, all available to search online. To view the collection, click here.
On Monday, October 26, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., the AJA is sponsoring a special program to honor the memory and legacy of Rabbi Regina Jonas, the first woman to be ordained as a rabbi. The event, ?In the Footsteps of Regina Jonas,? will be held in the Amberley Room of the Mayerson Jewish Community Center.
