How To Meet The Needs Of An Aging Population

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, individuals 65 years and older will make up 19% of the U.S. population by the year 2030, an estimated 72 million people. And many experts predict the number of older Americans will put severe pressure on families, communities and governments.

Joining us to discuss how we can prepare to meet the needs of our aging population are Ann Sutton Burke, director of Aging and Caregiver Services at Jewish Family Services; and, Laurie Petrie, vice president of Communications for the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio.

Council on Aging’s Own Your Future workshop is designed to help people plan for long-term care. Workshops are coming up in August and October, for information and registration, click here.  For a closer look at the United States of Aging Survey, click here

CARING FOR MOM & DAD is a one-hour special that explores the challenges faced by family members looking after aging parents, and how the huge increase in the number of older adults will affect our society.
