Kids and teenagers with special needs may require extra assistance due to medical, emotional or learning issues. Increased accessibility and inclusion is important for them not only in schools, but throughout the entire community.

There are efforts being made in Butler County to ensure that special needs youth have access to the same facilities and services as their peers. For example, Liberty Township is working to make its parks accessible to children with special needs, providing play structures with ramps for wheelchairs and mobility devices.

Joining us to talk about the various disability inclusion efforts in Butler County are Liberty Township official, Christine Matacic; Advocacy Coordinator for the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Connie Mehlman; President of the Liberty Township Parks, Kurt Feldmann; and Executive Director of the Great Miami Valley YMCA, Damon Knoche.
