Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was to have held a fundraising event late Monday afternoon at the home of Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley, but it has been postponed, according to sources close to the mayor.
The reason, according to sources, is the murder of 50 people and wounding of 53 others in an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning. It was the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
A firm date for the rescheduling of the fundraiser at Cranley's house has yet to be determined.
Guests were paying $1,000 to $33,400 to attend the fundraising event in Cincinnati, with the money going to the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
A public event that was to take place at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Cleveland is still on, according to a spokeswoman for the Clinton campaign.
When the Hamilton County Republican Party found out the Clinton fundraiser was postponed, they called off their planned protest at Mount Lookout Square.
But county GOP chairman Alex Triantafilou said in an e-mail to supporters the protest a few blocks from Cranley's home would take place when the fundraiser is rescheduled.
