Gene Bennett - retired after 58 years as baseball scout

Serious Reds fans will know the name Gene Bennett. He was a long-time scout for the team, responsible for finding such great players as Don Gullett, Chris Sabo and Hall of Famer Barry Larkin for the team. He retired in 2011 after 58 years with the team, but still stays active in the game with his Gene Bennett Classic, a gathering of young, talented baseball players at Shawnee State University, hoping to get a look by pro scouts. Gene Bennett talks about his long career and some of the great players he’s been associated with in an interview with Mark Heyne.
