Following Controversy, Country Singer Jason Owens To Appear On 'Huckabee'

Kentucky country singer Jason Owens – who was caught in collateral damage from Mike Huckabee's public spat with Nashville record executive Jason Owen – will appear on Huckabee's TV show Saturday, March 10.

Owens, 22, was attacked on social media by people who confused him with Owen (no "s"), who operates Sandbox Entertainment and Monument Records in Nashville.

Owen opposed the appointment of Huckabee, former presidential candidate and Arkansas governor, to the Country Music Association Foundation board of directors. Citing Huckabee's opposition to LGBT issues, Owen called the appointment a "grossly offensive decision." Huckabee resigned from the board March 1.

Owens, who is from Florence, said he "received threats and other nasty comments from people who support Mike Huckabee, even though I had nothing to do with what happened. I have been called a bully. I have been called trash and un-American. It's crazy," he told the Lexington Herald-Leader.

"To Huckabee's credit, he reached out and wanted to get Jason on the show," said Fred Anderson, Owens' publicist. Owens taped the Huckabee show Tuesday near Nashville. He was interviewed by Huckabee, and sat in with both the house band and the musical guest, the Oak Ridge Boys.

Huckabee airs 8 p.m. Saturday, March 10, on TBN.

Owens will host a viewing party at Smokin' This and That BBQ, located at 10020 Demia Way in Florence, KY, starting at 7 p.m.
