Duke Energy has submitted a new plan for a pipeline through Hamilton County. The new Central Corridor Pipeline proposal is for a smaller diameter line, with natural gas flowing at a lower pressure.
The original configuration had a 30-inch pipeline operating at about 600 pounds per square inch. The new pipeline would be 20-inches, at 400-pounds.
The plan submitted to the Ohio Power Siting Board also has two routes. Both options start in northeast Hamilton County. Duke's preferred pipeline would end in Fairfax. The alternate would end between Golf Manor and Norwood.
The president of Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky says the pipeline is needed to replace aging infrastructure.
Jim Henning says "We have been listening to feedback from our customers, neighbors and community leaders.
“The reduction in size and pressure of the proposed natural gas pipeline is a direct result of this feedback.”
The Siting Board will decide the final route and may also suggest modifications as well.
