Derek Bauman (non-incumbent)

Oct 24, 2017

Background: Retired as a Mason police officer after a career-ending injury. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Master of Science in Education, MBA graduate of Ohio's Police Executive Leadership College and Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command. Endorsed by the Charter Committee.

On the Issues: Bauman said he became a homeowner in Over-the-Rhine while Mark Mallory was mayor "because of the big things that were happening there when Mark was mayor." Mallory recently endorsed Bauman's candidacy. Bauman campaigned hard for the Cincinnati streetcar. He says he wants the city and the region to create "a multi-modal regional transportation plan." He is vice chair of All Aboard Ohio, an advocacy group supporting public transportation across Ohio. He believes in fighting poverty through good paying jobs, access to public transportation, and a strong education system that includes vocational training.
