Dental Disparity: Local Programs Close The Gap To Childhood Dental Care

Tooth decay is one of the most common chronic diseases among children in the United States.

This month, Interact for Health released results of a survey that asked local parents and caregivers to rate the oral health of their children. While 71 percent of survey respondents said their child's teeth were very good or excellent, lower-income caregivers were less likely to rate their child's dental health highly.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the survey results and programs to provide local children with more access to proper dental care are Interact for Health President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. O'dell Owens; and Cincinnati Health Department dentist Dr. Anna Novais, who works in the Delta Dental Center at Oyler Community Learning Center in Price Hill.
