Cincinnati Opera Season Premieres Sunday On WGUC

The 2016 Cincinnati Opera season premieres on 90.9 WGUC-FM at 8 p.m. Sunday.

The four operas were recorded and produced by Cincinnati Public Radio in June and July at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, after Music Hall closed for renovations. Here's the lineup:

Die Fledermaus, 8 p.m. Nov. 6: Music by Johann Strauss, Jr.; Libretto by Carl Haffner and Richard Genée. (Performed June 16 and 18)

Cast: Nicole Cabell, Rosalinde; Zach Borichevsky, Eisenstein; Nicole Haslett, Adele; Kelley O’Connor, Prince Orlofsky; Alek Shrader, Alfred; and Hadleigh Adams, Dr. Falke.

Fellow Travelers, 8 p.m. Nov. 13: World Premiere. Based on the 2007 novel by Thomas Mallon. Developed and co-commissioned by G. Sterling Zinsmeyer. Music by Gregory Spears; Libretto by Greg Pierce. (Performed June 17-July 10)

Cast: Aaron Blake, Timothy Laughlin; Joseph Lattanzi, Hawkins Fuller; Alexandra Schoeny, Miss Lightfoot; Talya Lieberman, Lucy.

Fidelio, 8 p.m. Nov. 20: Music by Ludwig van Beethoven; Libretto by Joseph Sonnleithner.

Cast: Christine Goerke, Leonore; Russell Thomas, Florestan; Nmon Ford, Don Pizarro; Nathan Stark, Rocco; Daniel Sutin, Don Fernando; Laura Tatulescu, Marzelline; Thomas Blondelle, Jacquino. (Performed July 7 and 9)

Tosca, Nov. 27: Music by Giacomo Puccini; Libertto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica.

Cast: Evelina Dobračeva, Floria Tosca; Marcello Giordani, Mario Cavaradossi; Gordon Hawkins, Baron Scarpi.  (Performed July 23, 27 and 29)
