The causes, diagnosis and treatments for lung cancer

Lung cancer accounts for about 27% of all cancer deaths and is by far the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women in the United States. Smoking is by far the biggest risk factor, causing 80-85% of lung cancer in the U.S. But there are other risk factors, and thousands of non-smokers each year are diagnosed with lung cancer. Joining us to look at the risks, symptoms, treatments and research for lung cancer are Dr. Elsira Pina, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine associate professor and UC Health pulmonologist; Patrice Urban, an advocate with the Lung Cancer Alliance; and Kathy Sinclair, a lung cancer survivor who also works with the Lung Cancer Alliance.
