Books By The Banks 2019

The 13th Annual Books By The Banks Cincinnati USA Book Festival will be held Saturday, October 26 the Duke Energy Convention Center in downtown Cincinnati. Along with more than 100 authors who will talk with patrons and sign copies of their books, there will be author panels and discussions; a kids zone and teen scene with a variety of activities and entertainment; sponsor tables; and an onsite bookstore from Joseph Beth Booksellers.Cincinnati Public Radio will have a table - stop by and say hi to the hosts and staff, sign-up to win a CD or other prize, and let us know what you think about our stations! Catch My 'Reds: Big 50' Interview Replay On Sunday

Chad Dotson, co-author of "Cincinnati Reds: The Big 50," spoke with me on "Around Cincinnati" earlier this year.

With the Books by the Banks Cincinnati Regional Book Festival coming up on Oct. 20, WVXU-FM's Around Cincinnati will replay my July conversation with Chad Dotson, co-author of The Big 50: Cincinnati Reds: The Men and Moments That Made the Cincinnati Reds.

Dotson, who wrote the book with Chris Garber, explained how they first made a list of 100 of the greatest seasons, players, games or personalities from 149 years of Cincinnati Reds history – before cutting it to 75, and finally 50.

"Fifty was an impossible task. We could have made this the Big 100 very easily," admits Dotson, founder of the Redlegs Nation website. "We call the book a full-color highlight reel of Reds history. My co-author Chris Garber and I just whittled it down till we got to 50 that we felt (was) representative of the different eras in Reds history, which were the most important in shaping the franchise, and the personalities who made the Reds the Reds. We're pretty happy with it."
