The Blues: 11.26.16

George Thorogood & the Destroyers

This week's holiday edition of The Blues which airs on Saturday, November 26th at 11pm, is a show of what I call "comfort music."  We start off with favorites the Goshorn Brothers, John Mayall, Garland Jeffreys, and Van Morrison.

The second set features a song by Branford Marsalis & Joe Louis Walker from the compilation "Fish Tree Water Blues."  I remember buying a copy of this cd in Tower Records down in New Orleans while attending a Jazz Fest.  And George Thorogood & the Destroyers make up the rest of this set.

Delbert McClinton begins the 3rd set followed by Johnny Adams, a live song by Phoebe Snow, and Linda Tillery & the Cultural Heritage Choir. Delbert McClinton will be appearing at the Madison Theatre in Covington on Saturday, February 25th, 2017.

This holiday edition of The Blues ends with the Fairfield Four and a narrative by Garrison Keillor.  Mr. Keillor is returning to Cincinnati at the Aronoff Center downtown on May 19th, 2017.
