Around Cincinnati Christmas Special

This year marks the 8th year for WVXU’s Around Cincinnati Christmas Special, this year airing on Sunday, December 23 from 7:00-9:00 pm. As in years past, producer Lee Hay fills this show will plenty of music and storytelling, just in time for that last day of shopping or preparing for your family’s celebration.

Here are some of the highlights from the 2012 Around Cincinnati Christmas Special:

  • The annual reading of Clement Moore’s Christmas favorite, “Twas the Night before Christmas,” with this year’s special guest, local musician and longtime member of the cast of the Bob Braun Show, Rob Reider.
  • A reading by our own Jim Stump of the new holiday classic, “Santa in Cincinnati,” written by Judi Barrett, who wrote “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.”
  • Local author Jinny Powers Berten reads a poem by Fredrick Thomas, “Christmas Eve in Clifton,” from her book Cincinnati Christmas.
  • Six pieces from the locally produced “Ring III: A Cincinnati Keyboard Christmas” will be featured including performances by Linford Detwiler, Bob Nave, Phil DeGreg and others.
  • And all throughout the two hours, listeners will enjoy Christmas music from some of Cincinnati’s best singers and musicians, from the past to the present, including:
  • Nancy James
  • Rosemary Clooney
  • Zak Morgan
  • Cincinnati May Festival
  • Over the Rhine
  • Cincinnati Pops Orchestra
  • Catacoustic Consort
  • Raison d’Etre
  • And many more
