Anchor Julie Dolan Leaving WCPO-TV

WCPO-TV has posted anchor openings to replace Julie Dolan and the retiring Carol Williams.

Dolan, a Montgomery native and Sycamore High School graduate, has hosted "The Now Cincinnati" since it premiered two years ago.

"Julie Dolan is leaving at the end of November. She recently got married and will be relocating to Louisville where her husband lives and works," says Jeff Brogan, vice president and general manager of WCPO-TV, 9 On Your Side.

Williams, Channel 9's main co-anchor since 1986, announced last December that she would work part-time this year, anchoring at 5 and 6 p.m. Williams will retire at the beginning of next year, Brogan said.

Tanya O'Rourke was promoted in January to 11 p.m. co-anchor with Craig McKee.

For the evening weeknight co-anchor position, the station wants a "newsroom leader" with a "dynamic on-air presence" who has at least 10 years experience as an anchor.

"The Now Cincinnati" listing says the station "is seeking a host for our new hard-news focused 4 p.m. newscast, presenting content in a creative and active presentation style."

Since hired for "The Now Cincinnati" two years ago, Dolan has proved to be a very versatile anchor. She was the original host of "9 On Your Side At 7PM" launched a year ago, and has anchored at noon and co-anchored all evening newscasts.

Don't be surprised if the personable and talented Dolan some day returns to anchor Cincinnati newscasts – unless she hired by TV stations in much bigger markets. She's that good.
