Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

County to re-open MSD bid process

Hamilton County Commissioners are expected to vote Wednesday morning on re-opening the bidding process on some Metropolitan Sewer District projects.

The board initiated the moratorium to force renewed talks between the county and the city, which runs the sewer district. At issue are several city initiated hiring policies and practices the county dislikes, and in some cases says are illegal.

The county is re-opening the bid process following a city council vote two weeks ago to suspend the hiring policies until August.

Warren County racino now hiring

The Miami Valley Gaming & Raceway plans to hire more than 500 people, beginning Wednesday. The Warren County racino plans to open December 12, 2013.

Job openings range from food and drink service to IT, finance, human resources, marketing.

A job fair is set for Wednesday, July 10 from 4-7 p.m. at Workforce One of Warren County. Applicants should bring a resume and apply in-person.

Kroger inks merger deal with Harris Teeter

Cincinnati-based Kroger is taking over Harris Teeter Supermarkets in a transaction valued at about $2.5 billion. The merger means Kroger will buy all outstanding shares of Harris Teeter for $49.38 per share in cash.

Harris Teeter has 212 stores in the southeastern and mid-Atlantic markets and in Washington, D.C. Those stores will maintain the Harris Teeter brand name. The company posted revenues of approximately $4.5 billion for the 2012 fiscal year.

Cincinnati Casino revenues drop

The latest casino revenue numbers are out and they don't paint a good picture for Cincinnati's Horseshoe Casino.

Cincinnati's revenues dropped from about $19.6 million in May to $17.6 million in June, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

All four of the state's casinos are reporting lower numbers for June. However, the roughly 10 percent drop for Horseshoe Cincinnati is the largest.

Commissioners supportive of Zoo levy request

The Cincinnati Zoo's levy request looks to have support from at least two of Hamilton County's Commissioners.

The Zoo is asking the board to place a flat renewal of its five year levy on the November ballot.

Monday morning a committee which reviews county levies recommended the board fulfill the zoo's request.

Commissioner Greg Hartmann likes the low percentage of taxpayer funds the Zoo uses to operate.
