Jay Hanselman

Reporter and Co-Host of Cincinnati Edition

Jay Hanselman brings more than 10 years experience as a news anchor and reporter to 91.7 WVXU. He came to WVXU from WNKU, where he hosted the local broadcast of All Things Considered.  Hanselman has been recognized for his reporting by the Kentucky AP Broadcasters Association, the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, and the Ohio AP Broadcasters.

Hanselman covers Cincinnati City Hall for WVXU and co-hosts Cincinnati Edition on Thursday afternoons at 1:00 pm.

Council committee gets update on Cincy streetcar project

Cincinnati officials said Wednesday they still do not know the cost of delaying work on the streetcar project for most of last month.  They're still calculating that number and also the effect on the timeline to build the first phase.  

Council delayed the project for several weeks before deciding on December 19th to let it move forward.  Officials also say the cold weather has caused some delays.  

The first actual streetcar will arrive in the city in March 2015.

Cincinnati pension reform votes could be coming soon

Cincinnati Council could be voting in the next several months on proposals to stabilize the city's underfunded pension system.  Some members said the action needs to happen soon, while others said the problem will not be remedied overnight. 

The Budget and Finance Committee heard about the issue Tuesday.
