A student activist group says the University of Cincinnati is getting better about making the main campus more diverse. The Irate 8 made a list of ten demands in October 2015 after the shooting death of Sam DuBose by former UC police officer Ray Tensing.

Ohio Governor John Kasich just signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana in the state; an independent review of the University of Cincinnati Police Department and an audit of the Metropolitan Sewer District were both released this week; a new report questions how the city treats tax incentives for developers and expanding companies; and hearings continue on the city budget.

An independent review of the University of Cincinnati Police Department is recommending a number of changes, including a review of the policy for use of deadly force.

 The review began after the shooting death of an unarmed motorist by a campus police officer last July.

The University of Cincinnati is naming a new Chief of Police and Assistant Chief. The schools is naming Anthony Carter as Police Chief and Maris Herold as Assistant Chief.

The University of Cincinnati's Department of Public Safety and Office of Safety and Reform will hold open forums to introduce the finalists for police chief and assistant chief. A search committee received 65 applications, and interviewed ten candidates via video conference.
