The Blues: 9.30.17

Oct 1, 2017

This week on The Blues, 9/30/17 at 11pm, the show begins with Catfish Keith who's starting a tour of England and Europe 10/6/17.  Also in the first set, St. Paul & the Broken Bones.  They're coming to Lexington, KY 11/15 & 11/16.  The 11/16 show is almost sold out.  For some reason, I only became aware of them when I saw an interview with the lead singer Paul Janeway with Charlie Rose this week.   You'll also hear songs by Mark Nomad and Porter Nickerson.  Porter Nickerson is Willy Porter and Carmen Nickerson who'll be performing at the Ludlow Garage on 10/26.  Michael Grayson recently spoke with them for our music website, Local Exposure.

This week's show which airs at 11pm on Saturday, April 8th, features musicians who'll be appearing in Cincinnati and two musicians who recently passed away.  The first set features Lonnie Mack and Johnny A.  A tribute show on the first anniversary of Lonnie Mack's death will be held on Friday, April 21st at the Madison Theatre in Covington.  It's called Mackfest, and there'll be many guitarists on stage that night.

The Blues: 12.3.16 show

Nov 30, 2016

This week's blues show which airs on Saturday, December 3rd at 11pm, starts off with the classic R. L. Burnside song, It's Bad You Know, from the Sopranos soundtrack.  Bobby Rush has a cd out called "Decisions", and you'll hear "Another Murder in New Orleans" which also features Dr. John.  Dr. John's no stranger to violence. He no longer plays the guitar, because his hand was shot with a bullet.

Three acts have been signed for the Cincy Blues Fest on August 7th & 8th.  Tab Benoit, Tommy Castro and Samantha Fish will all be coming to Cincinnati to perform.  They'll all be performing on the main stage.

Tommy Castro's bringing his hot blues to the Redmoor in Mt. Lookout Square on Tuesday, February 11th, and he'll probably be performing music from his new cd, "The Devil You Know,"

on Alligator Records.
