This week's blues show starts off with the powerful guitar of Jimi Hendrix from the Fillmore East's last show on New Year's Eve, 1969.  He's followed by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt and the Goshorn Brothers. 

During the second set, you'll hear from guitarist Jeff Beck, Derek & the Dominoes, Marc Broussard, and legendary bluesman BB King.  And finally the show's last set features Lonnie Mack, the Sonny Moorman Group, and Luther Allison.

This week's program which airs at 11pm on Saturday, March 25th, starts off with the Claudettes who'll be performing at MOTR Saturday, April 8th.  Also heard in the first set are Zac Harmon, Shemekia Copeland, and the Sonny Moorman Group.  

This week on The Blues, Saturday night at 11 o'clock, May 30th, you'll hear lots and lots of talented local musicians.  You'll also hear songs from a couple of new cds recently received from Alligator and Blind Pig Records.  And finally, the show will end with a personal favorite by the late great tenor saxophonist Jimmy McGary.

Local blues guitarist Sonny Moorman begins this week's edition of the Blues, which will air at 11 o'clock on Saturday evening, March 28th, with a song from his group's latest cd, "Lucky 13."  The rest of the first set includes Gov't Mule and the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band.  They begin a European tour on April 10th and when they return to the states, they'll be performing at Huber Heights on June 24th.

On October 1st, 1996, the Blues Brothers and some of their friends got on stage to open the Chicago House  of Blues.  So, this week's show which airs on Saturday, February 21st at 11pm begins with the beginning of that evening's show which is followed by the Allman Brothers Band and the Sonny Moorman Group.

You'll also hear from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Koko Taylor and Billie Holiday in the 2nd & 3rd sets.  And, closing out the show is an instrumental piece, "Beautiful Child," by guitarist Ronnie Earl whose song "Linda" is the opening/close of each week's blues show.

The Sonny Moorman Group won the 2014 Cincinnati Blues Challenge, earning them a place in this year’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Sonny Moorman visited our Corbett Studio to talk with Stuart Holman about the Memphis trip, other plans for the coming year, and perform his song “Let’s Work Together.”

During this one-hour special that'll air at 11pm on Saturday, January 24th, you'll hear an interview by Stuart Holman with Sonny Moorman, and then later in the show, you'll hear an interview I did with Kelly Richey in the Corbett Studio.

Sonny Moorman's "Road to Memphis" Party
Enjoy a special Sunday evening celebration with the Sonny Moorman Group as they kick-off their trip to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis--over 120 acts who have been judged to be the best in their region, competing to see who will be judged the best in the world.  Come out to support our local winner!
$10 admission includes catered homemade appetizers!  Showtime 6 PM.

This local special starts off with Whiskey Shambles and Kelly Richey who'll both be performing at the Smokin' Hot BBQ event at Findlay Market on Sunday, July 27th.  The 2nd set of this evening's blues show features three musicians, Jarekus Singleton, Selwyn Birchwood, & Guy Forsyth,  who'll be playing at the Cincy Blues Fest on Friday or Saturday evenings, August 1st or 2nd.
