Greater Cincinnati has been focusing its attention on the preparation and events leading up to tomorrow’s All-Star Game, but our area is hosting another national sports competition this week. The 2015 USRowing Club National Championships begin July 15 at Harsha Lake in Clermont County. An estimated two-thousand rowers are expected to compete in the five-day regatta.

THE BOYS IN THE BOAT: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, by Daniel James Brown, tells the story of the University of Washington’s 1936 eight-oar crew and their epic quest for an Olympic gold medal, a team that transformed the sport and grabbed the attention of millions of Americans. Daniel James Brown joined us to talk about the improbable story of nine working-class boys from the American west who beat the odds and found hope in the most desperate of times.

Do you like to run? Do you like to row? Would you like to do both on the same day? You can on October 27 when the Clermont Crew presents the Head of the Hidden Dragon event at East Fork State Park. There is a 5000 meter rowing competition, then later there’s a 5K run and festival.
