Harlem Globetrotter comes to Cincinnati and Kentucky

A Harlem Globetrotter dribbled across the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge Monday afternoon.

"Slick" Willie Shaw, a Globetrotter for nine years started on the Ohio side of the Roebling Bridge and dribbled his way across using special techniques, arriving in Kentucky. 

At 6'6", Shaw towered over fans as they took pictures.

Shaw's appearance is part of "Globetrotter Week" in the Cincinnati region. The Harlem Globetrotters play at the Bank of Kentucky Center Friday, April 19 at 7 p.m.

Roebling closed during rush hour

**Update**

From The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet:

"The Roebling Bridge will be closed beginning approximately at 4 pm until so that the District 6 Bridge Crew can take check the north tower.  This afternoon a piece of sandstone fell from the ledge.  At this time it appears to be superficial, but crews will take a closer look.  The bridge will reopen once inspection is complete and deemed clear."

The Roebling Suspension bridge is out of commission for Thursday rush hour traffic.

Roebling Suspension Bridge gets Temporary Weight Limit

The Roebling Suspension Bridge has a temporary 3- ton limit after a recent inspection showed some deterioration on the span. Chief District Engineer, Rob Hans says additional analysis and repair is needed before the limit can be lifted.


A report from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says passenger vehicles and pedestrians won't be affected, but commuter trolleys will not be allowed on the bridge. The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky has implemented the Southbank Shuttle detour and TANK vehicles are no longer using the Suspension Bridge.
