road conditions

Snow showers Sunday morning sent crews scrambling back out to clear roads in Hamilton County.

Unlike our television counterparts, we at WVXU don't often head out to the salt pile but reporter Tana Weingartner happened to drive past the Hamilton County Engineer's Office and caught a glimpse of the low reserves at the facility. This location has two barns, one for salt and the other for a sand mixture. Each is down to just a ring around the inside edge.

Tri-state road crews are bracing for more snow and ice beginning later tonight.

Cincinnati public works employees are on 12-hour shifts, which started last night.

“We began pre-treating our hills, bridges and overpasses,” said Jarrod Bolden, superintendent of traffic/road operation.  “We continued that pre-treating method through this morning.”

Some communities have been reporting salt shortages because of all the snow and ice this winter.
