"I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti" opens October 2

I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti will kick-off the Playhouse in the Park’s Thompson Shelterhouse season starting October 2. This play is based on Giulia Melucci’s bestselling memoir of the same name, and the production’s star, Antoinette LaVecchia, tells Rick Pender about doing this one-woman show that incorporates cooking and feeding the audience during the performances.

Artistic Director Blake Robison from Playhouse in the Park is in the studio with Rick Pender to provide a preview of the upcoming 2014-14 season in both the Marx Theater and the Thompson Shelterhouse.

"Venus in Fur" opens April 24

David Ives’ seductive play of gender politics and power, Venus in Fur, opens April 24 at Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park. Rick Pender previews the local production of this Broadway hit with the play’s director, KJ Sanchez, and actress Greta Wohlrabe.

Jane Austen’s masterpiece Pride and Prejudice is the newest production at Playhouse in the Park, and Artistic Director Blake Robison has personally directed this adaptation which stars Kate Cook and showcases some of the exquisite paintings from the Taft Museum of Art. Rick Pender sat down with Blake Robison to discuss this classic and why he decided to direct it for the third time in his career.

Fans of daytime soaps, specifically As the World Turns, will remember actor Rosemary Prinz from her 12 year run as Penny Hughes. She’s primarily an accomplished stage actress and is now appearing on stage at Playhouse in the Park in a production of Amy Herzog’s 4000 Miles. She spends a few minutes with Rick Pender to talk about her long career and her role in this Thompson Shelterhouse show.

Clybourne Park, the newest production at Playhouse in the Park, is the only play to have captured these three top honors: Pulitzer Prize for Drama; Tony Award for Best Play; and London’s Olivier Award for Best New Play. Bruce Norris’ biting satire of race and real estate is directed by Timothy Douglas, who is with our Rick Pender to talk about bringing this complex, issue-centric play to life.

Behind the scenes look at "A Christmas Carol"

Playhouse in the Park’s production of A Christmas Carol is a longtime Cincinnati tradition, and now a former backstage employee shares some of the stories of working on the annual production. Daniel Townsend was wigmaster for four years, and he’s written A Mouthful of Goose: Backstage Stories from A Christmas Carol and he’s with Rick Pender to share a couple of those stories.

"Cabaret" comes to the Marx Theater stage
