Playwright Ricardo Khan joins our Rick Pender to discuss the play he co-wrote about the Tuskegee Airmen, Fly, and the upcoming production he is directing, kicking off the new season at Playhouse in the Park.
Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park brings one of Hollywood’s classic Billy Wilder films to the stage. Double Indemnity is a story filled with intrigue, lust and murder and it begins its premiere fun in the Marx Theater on April 25. One of the challenges of this production is the complex set, so Rick Pender talks with the set designer, Paul Shortt, about successfully staging a play with so many set changes while maintaining the dramatic tension.
Actor Rachel Leslie grew up in Golf Manor and attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts. She’s back in town, performing in the Playhouse in the Park production of A Trip to Bountiful. Jim Stump had the chance to sit down with this psych major about growing up here, her stage career, and some recent world premieres in which she performed.
The explosion of book clubs has taken the inevitable turn: a play has been written about them. The Book Club Play is making its debut at Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park now. Rick Pender welcomes Blake Robison, the Playhouse’s artistic director and director of this comedy, into the studio to talk not only about this production, but about his first year at the Playhouse.
